I have used cometic, and kimpex in the past with no problems, however I do prefer Yamaha parts.Lately I have been getting my Yamaha parts from these guys,http://www.yamahapartsdepot.com/default.asp Thier prices are a lot cheaper than Yamaha in Canada, and shipping is quick.

Cometic is what Hauck sells me for some of the gaskets.

i have used them in my exciters and have had o problems, however i am struggling with the idea to put them in my 97 800!think i will go o.e.m with this engine.
ok, good info...would love to find some "discount" yamaha part sites. The rings, piston, wrist pins, needle bearings, I would stay all yamaha. If the price on gaskets are decent, I would go that route.
let me ask a few questions: if the wrist pins, and needle bearings look ok, would you guys reuse them or is the few bucks saved not worth the risk? I really want to do this right, But I would be lying if I said money is not tight and every dollar saved is important.

I'm all for saving money just like everyone else but I won't skimp on my passion (Yamaha's) if I can help it. I only buy OEM when possible and not just for the assurance of quality. It is hard to find obsolete parts and one of the the quickest ways to show a company that they should add another part to their obsolete list is to quit buying it. We all have seen what prices can get to for for parts like this after they have become obsolete and once the OEM manufacturer gives up on them the aftermarket supplyers will soon follow. I do search ebay and such for good deals on OEM parts but still spend my fair share at my dealer's parts counter. He needs to eat too so without him and OEM parts things would be much worse. We all waste a lot of money on stuff we don't really need so I try to make up the difference somewhere else.
This is not a slam on aftermarket parts and I'm not trying to tell anyone else what to do. It is just a perspective I thought I would share that some may not have considered.
Good Luck,

Yes, just lube them up good when re-assembling. If purchasing new small end rod needle bearing I prefer OE. There might be some good aftermarket out there but I haven't come across them yet.

Just my opinion.
