Yep i know, a skidoo...............2006 skidoo summit 800 151 has anyone got one, ridden one.
l need a good all round mountain sled, i cannot get my head (and wallet) around Yamaha 4 stroke turbos. As there seems to be no Yamaha 2 stroke on the horizon, im thinking of looking at the enemy!
Cheers
an aquaintance of mine has a Summit 800. I dont know what year exactly but its right around 05/06 ish, and it bent the crank behind the primary or thereabouts. I think it was a pricey and long endeavor before he rode again. I think it seized up the very first ride. Supposedly there is some sorta "fix" for later models.
Now, I dont know specifically thats exactly what happened or thats how it happened but he told me this himself. If theres details missing its only because I didnt care all that much at the time. Take that info for what its worth.

Well I have heard things about the ski doo 800's being time bombs but as a former cat man I was and still am looking to get a crossfire. Prior to 05 I think you can get a 500,600,700,800, or 1000 but now you can only get 600,800,1000, in new ones. With all the research ive done on them Its like anything else i guess if you maintain it....it will last. Then one nice thing is that they are all efi not just fuel economy but the elect. start, reverse, and if need be they usually start in 2 pull of the old recoil or less. I like the cats for that reason. just my $.02

I have owned a few of the 800 Summits and and love them. The only Powertec that I had that gave me any trouble was my '05 Renegade. That was bad gas. The knock sensor didn't catch it soon enough and they sent me a brand new engine. My wife and I both have '08 800R 146 Summits and are by FAR the best machines I have ridden. I also had an 07 which I traded for the '08. Most of the people I ride with have Doo's as well, and I was the only one to have an engine failure.

Thanks Kahunas,
l need a good all round sled for work, i was told to avoid the 07 because sometimes the centre crank bearing wasnt getting lubed if it wasnt primed properly, and failing.
lve heard good things about these sleds from the trade and non owners alike.
lm looking forward to reverse!

After riding the Doo's with reverse, it REALLY sucks pulling these VMaxxes out of the trailer backwards!!!:Flush: No reverse AND over 100 pounds heavier.:frech32: I did hear that they had some crank issues, but never knew of anyone that had it happen.
