well was going to the radar runs on the welland river today well all i can say is i went 1/2 a km and the sled died at about 80 km's....wtf i said...then i tried to pull it over and it wouldn't pull over...so we checked the plugs...white as the snow all 4..i said wtf again..so we turned the clutch over to brake it free and it started then died so we towed it back to the truck, and went and premixed the gas and now it runs fine..so did the oil injection stop working?? i checked the compression and the clutch side is 5 pounds less than the others...to top it off a ski-doo pulled me back..lol.. he said he is used to pulling yamaha's

where is your jetting at??? To check your pump, mark the tank where the oil is at, continue running your pre-mix and watch the level. I am guessing its jetting. What fuel did you have in it???

i had just filled it up with 91..i have run it hard the last week and half and the plugs were dark until now..do you think maybe something froze in the pump??it was cold the last couple of days and have not drove it then...i hope it will be alright, i will take it for a run tomorrow..

well had it out put 45 km on it, did not foul one plug but smoking like a bitch when idling...it seems to have the power like it did have so i'm just going to brake it in like it was just rebuilt..i marked the oil level and i will check it tomorrow to see if it dropped

for the smoking, with a premixed tank and the oil injection working it tends to smoke pretty bad.

mabye pull a head and have a looksee for damage, i know hoping for the best it can turn into pandoras box and for the cost of a gasket you could prevent somthing bad.

i forgot i was in a hurry and showed up late and my buddies were all waiting with their sleds running and as soon as i unloaded the sled they took off so the motor was cold i know i know i never just get on and run but i had some catching to do boy that was a big mistake...i did the compression test and the clutch side is 5 pounds less..now if i let it warm up can i run the 1/4 mile drag or don't bother...thanks guys

what does happen inside the motor when it's cold and you run it somewhat hard??

The pistons heat up and expand quicker than the cylinders and the rings get pressed into the cylinder walls and creates gouges. It is called a cold engine seize I believe. If you are lucky the damage will be minimal and it may run fine for a long time, if not it could shred a cylinder wall or 2 or 3 or 4...

Anything that could seize the engine up should be considered serious.

i will take the head off and have a look. the last owner said it had O rings instead of a gasket does this make any sense and were might i find them...royaldistributing??

Sorry to hear of the seizure, hope it's not hurt too bad?
If you have o rings, don't waste your cash on the gaskets. Most likely the o rings will be re-usable.
Sound's like ya scored the far left hole a little if the comp. is low??
Check both airboxes for missing plastic tabs (inside).
I had mY 96 apart last week and noticed 1 of the tabs ready to fall off, read about someone losing a motor from this on here.
Out on the 95 for an hour or so last night (F,n cold man!). Trails were near perfect and very fast.
Let me know when your next radar run is, I might make the trip?
