I think I know the answer already but is the suspension from a 94 600 vmax going to bolt into my 97 no problem?I'm looking for speed here and I'm lowering the front so I want to drop the rear.

No it isn't. 97 had the Pro-Action, different bolt-pattern. Probably the 97 sx suspension or any year SRX suspension would be your best bet for easy bolt-in and getting lower.

The proaction on mine has that 3 bolt plate for the rear which the srx, sxr etc. do not. It looks like they retrofitted the 11.5" to run in the old 8" setup to me. I may be wrong. Do the 8" skids have that back plate?

The 99 SRX skid in mine does not have that plate, but neither did my 92 stock.

The backplate on yours is there because the height of the tunnel is shorter that the new sleds so it needs that slight drop, whereas the newer sleds the suspension bolts directly in the tunnel. Unfortunately the location of the rear mounting plate would have to be moved approximately 4" backwards and the other holes re-drilled for an older skid to mount up.

I'm 99.9% sure on this.

Well maybe I'm better to suck down the suspension I have. The 95 and 96 800 tunnel is totally different as well then MOF? How much work was the srx suspension to get in Dean?

Josh, My sled came with it, the previous owner did the install.
Wildmaxs pics in another thread have all of the measurements for a newer pro action install.
Also for now I'm taking the SRX skid out and re installing the stock skid. For racing, til I get something better.

Theres probably no difference in mine and the srx other than the shocks, its probably easier and CHEAPER to suck mine down. I'm not afraid of modifying a suspension to fit but I don't want to have to hack a sled that is otherwise mint.

jminor, I think you're on the right track. The difference in the 95/96 Vmax-4s is simply the hole and rear mounting bracket location. Installing a different skid wouldn't be difficult, but I don't think I'd wanna go drilling holes in one of those very rare 97's.

Maybe the easiest thing would be to just put SRX shocks in the rear skid, should bolt right in, then just shorten the limiter straps and make any necessary adjustments, IMO.
