I FINALY got the max back together tonight! After like 2 years appart, buying parts off here, and asking for help rebuilding the carbs, I got the sled fired up.
I started it up for the first time and it started to rev like crazy and was bouncing off from the tors limiter while the ass end was up in the air. I was like wtf? so i messed with the idler control, and it wouldnt do anything at all. I disabled the tors and it reved up to like 4k and would stop and run good. So after pondering what the hell was going on, and remebering a previous search on the forum for the jet settings. I see written on my hood that the "settings" from what the sled was set at before was 2 1/2 turns out. And I remembered that its 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 turns. So back out come the carbs, to reset, and re-install. Pull two times and it fires right up! Set the idle and away we go. I put in new brake, rotor, and a caliper. Also did a new seat and track with 144 studs.
After 4 laps around the field, and checking the revs out, almost everything seemed to be in order. The only other thing I know isint correct, and might just be that it hasnt been riden in a few years, is that after accelerating, and then letting off to cruise, with the rpm between 5-6k, it acts like it loads up some. Flutter the throttle and it comes out of it and is ready to scream. It also is fine up trough 8+k with nothing bogging up, even between 5-6k. My first thought is that its not tottaly down shifting correctly when you let off after accelerating, and keeping it geared to low, but if thats the case, i did just clean the clutch up last year, and it hasnt been used since, so it might just need to be ran.
Im so stoked guys! After my dad picking up another 92, and getting that going, to finnaly getting mine so i can ride, I cant wait to hit the trails with him! These guys around here just arent going to know what hit them! Ill have it registerd tommorow so i can :Tomcat:!!!
