I want to remove the decals from my sled. I have experimented on a bad side panel I have and am not having much success. For those of you that have done this what has worked best for you? Tom

Its not alot of fun... I use a heat gun to warm them up and start picking. Then a solvent and a bondo plastic knife to scrape away the goo...
I use Xylene for solvent just be careful and you'll need to using rubbing compound and wax when you are done

I had been using a heat gun and a plastic bondo knife and slowly and carefully picking at it but the paint was still coming off. The first thing I had tried was some automotive decal remover and it also took the paint off. Fortunately this was a junk side panel that I was experimenting with before I tried anything on the good ones. Like the looks of your sled Mike. That's pretty much what I was going for.

Thanks ... Just like Johnny Cash (man in black)
It's a fine line between not enough heat and too much. The Exhaust side will be the toughest the get done the heat bakes those decals on....
I've removed lots ot them and never had a problem with pulling paint. It is a slow process so find a good chair and a box of beer.

On my boat, I used this stuff called Vinyl-Off, which worked really well. I had to use some Goo-Off after on a few spots to remove the adhesive residue, but neither harmed the gel-coat...here is the link:
