A friend of mine has a mach z millenium and hes eyeing up my piped Vmax thinking hes going to take me down. Anyone race the triple mach or anything else out there on the lakes?

Yup. Our 92 Vmax4, against an MXZ 800.. He got a head start, and my dad had no problem passing him...

From what Iīve heard those triple Machīs are good runners. Heard some of them beat Thundercats, and that is a lot. Havenīt raced any of them though.

They are 150 horse stock, youīre in 170 hp with your Vmax4 with pipes. Heīs stock? You have him on the hp, if heīs stock and by that you should be able to get him. But there are lot of factors , like gearing, traction, the usual.

Just a friendly race across the lake or a short run?

Like always, I think YammieGod will have the answer to you. Only few of us, of any, have the experience what he has.

I already know the answer he doesn't stand a chance I've beat more than one of those mach's on my srx and the V4 is much stronger than the srx (which for the most part is stock and still hard to beat) I'm just curious as to who has raced what in the real world. We all know how well Yammiegod is doing in the race world which shows the TRUE potential of these things I'm just looking for a different perspective.

Get that max dialed in (right for the distance) and go beat em up

Depends who's Mach it is, I've beat and been beat.

It's all in who's turning the wrenches.

OK.

Havenīt really got a chance to race much, but did give a -04 RX run for itīs money last spring. He couldnīt leave me behind on the river. He was just pissed after that. We went over 1 km full out. He got me out of the hole, but I gained on him fast when it was over 150 kmh. Top speed wise we were tied. And he was on 121`track...

Iīd like to race a F7 some day. They seem fast in the right hands. And Iīll be racing my broīs SRX 700 soon..

It will come down to who has the best setup. Take a MachZ add a .060 shim to the base gasket, bore the carbs, clip the heads add good reeds and they make the same power as the Vmax800 with pipes.

Make even more power with the same mods on a Mach1 700 trip. Spins 173hp @ 9200rpm

WOW, this is why I love reading on this site. It is like listening to hunting and fishing stories. Some are true and some, well we will leave it at that. Here is where I have stood against my brothers 99 MachZ, 00 T-Cat, 01 SRX, 04 Rev 800, and 05 Mach Z on my 95 stock VMax. My brother is mechanically inclined and his sleds are in mint / top shape at all times. I take mine to the dealer for service.

99 Mach Z : fifty / fifty
00 T Cat can hang for 1/2 mile only if I get good start
01 SRX usually beat 60/40, if he gets jump, it takes1/3 mile catch
04 rev X he who gets holeshot, he who wins in less thn 1 mile
05 Mach Z I got holeshot a few times, lost all but once in mile.

01 XCR 800 fifty / fifty
03 or 04 RX1 I did a rolling race and smoked it in a mile, didn't want to break my mr reliable. the RX1 came back to race my brothers Rev 800 and from was smoked, I mean smoked. So I'm guessing the RX 1 was still in a break-in period.
If anyone rides up on Lake Gogebic in the UP good chance you have seen me horsing around. I wish I had the VMax knowledge to hang better with and proudly represent, especially against my brother. My 95 is currently for sale. there has been a new addition in the family.

LOL Not this again! 4-stroke vs. Vmax4! :sheep :bum:

I honest, that how it went down. I know Iīm not the lake racer king around here, since there are few new Mach Zīs around, and those Thundercatīs too. BUT after that I wonīt be afraid to race a RX. And why should I? You loose some and win some. Itīs all in the game. It will interesting to go to that Top Speed test in muhos, january 14th. There are all the new top dogs lined up, Apex ( Rx here), Fusions, F-cats etc. And some crazy turbo Yammies and 995 PSI Poos too. :fishing:

Oh boy, remember guys, one sled doesn't necessarily represent the field, lol

I know there are slow RX's out there, I also know there are slow V-4's, SRX's, F7's, T-Cats, and everything else out there too.

Master, do you race out on St Claire? My brother saw some wicked fast TCats and VMaxs I believe on lake St Claire last tear? Do you have a Yami dealer you favor, my brother is getting frustrated with his (andrsn & brt) local ones. He backed out on ordering a new Nitro last year for his wife. I use to live out of the Detroit area, but am now in Milwaukee.

No sir, I live in Auburn which is north of where you're talking about, were you thinking Auburn Hills? Happens alot, Auburn is a small town between Bay City and Midland just west of the Saginaw Bay.

Anyways, I deal with Steven's Cycle in Bay City, and its a good dealership, but not worth driving from Detroit, lol.

Time and place will be key for me especially with a .720 track I'll be racing on ice only! The mach ran a 114 last year in North Bay on the ice. That sounds about right to me but now hes talking clutch kit and shim kit so I better look out he might get real close to 120. I can say this. I won't quit tuning my Vmax until I break 120. Does anyone think I'm dreaming here?

toydoc
11-28-2005, 03:36 PM
I don't think your dreaming. I know Tonys into 100+mph in 660' and I'm at 100+mph with my 750 in 660'. Years ago we had a stock ZR800 with 140hp that would run 11.0's @ 118 in 1/4 mile with 80*+ summer heat.

snoman, alot of us run on Lake St Clair, most people call it Anchor Bay. Most days it will have 3 tracks going at the same time.
