1989 Yamaha Exciter 570 L/C

Could someone give me any information on the 89 Yamaha Exciter 570 L/C snowmobiles? (anything you know about them or if you ever had one)

I've had 2. The one that I had I think was a 89 the other a 92 sx. Do you have slide carbs or butterflies? Mine had the butterflies I had no problems other than a leaky needle and seat but I heard they were tempermental with leaning out after a long pull.

If you had butterfly carbs it was a 1987 without the yamaha update done. The 89 should be fine. That sould be the first year yamaha added weight to the flywheel and had the correct factory jetting.

Check the drive clutch and make sure it's in good shape. Most times the sled would over-rev alittle and then the clutch would vib itself to death. It would look like the drive clutch had 10,000 miles on it, but the sled only has 2500 miles.

I have owned 3 over the years.....the absolute best thing I ever did to that sled was a comet 108exp clutch, then pipe& drop a tooth on the top gear. Really woke it up. I loved those sleds. They were light, with a couple mods ....you just rode it like a dirt bike. NO suspension, but just stay on the gas and hang the skis. I had a DG and psi pipes on them....no comparison..psi all the way.
