i'm gonna stud my track on my vmax 4 but i don't know how many studs to put on or how long they should be. in the dennis kirk book it says 150-170 hp you should put 240 studs, should i go with 240 or would 192 be ok? i was gonna get woody's signature series studs, has anyone used them? what length should i get?
thanks
steve
the standard today is 1 1/2 stud per HP, often its even less than that. so 192 should be plenty. now as far as stud lengh. if your track is stock, it will be real close to .750. so you would want to go with a .875 stud. woody`s measure`s thier studs from the surface of the backer plate (which is .190 thick) to the tip of the stud. so a .875 woody`s stud, would give you .315 of penatration. which is going to put you half way inbetween the recomended 1/4in to 3/8in penatration perfect. BUT, from what I`ve seen, woody`s does`nt offer the signature series in a .875. the closest one to it, is the 1.000, and that going to put your penatration way beyond the recomended limit of 3/8.
