"SeaFoam", from an auto store. Hear it works wonders, never had the need to try it myself though.

You could scrubb it off, with like a soapy sponge, or SOS pad

Yamaha ring free fuel additive. I add every 3-5 tanks about an ounce, its supposed to cleans rings pistons etc. ive used it in my bikes, watercraft and sleds for preventive maint. for years. Never had a carb prob, stuck exhaust valve(srx), plugged jet, etc..
Using that and amsoil and when I re ringed my v4 after 5000 miles my pistons and skirts looked great, no carbon build up and clean ports. Probably didnt need to even re ring!
Seafoam Ive used in lawn equip, etc for years also with good results. Keeps gas good over winter.
