:agree: Brake parts cleaner has my vote. It leaves no residue.

i use a little bit of spray dry graphite on the moving parts. like the contact points on the weights.

with mountain clutching the weights can be a little thin then wear thru and bang....my 600 blew the moveable clutch sheave...replaced it with a comet and never looked back.

I think regular old 10W30 works better, just soak the whole clutch in a bucket of it!:muahaha:

I have heard alot of debate on this, some say NOTHING but soap and water...others have said they used brake cleaner and other cleaners with no problems...Personaly I take it down and throw it in to the dish washer...Turn to heavy and go watch TV. My wife gets alittle pissed at me when she comes home from work and the dish washer stops..she go to un load and opens it to find my clutch parts in thier. "you mite be a red neck if- you use you dish washer as a parts cleaner?" It works great. 3ft

Not that I have noticed..You have to really ask my wife on that. I just give the clutch a good rinse and finnal scrub. eveything looks good...reassemble and put back on. Really it works well. I went and bought a counter top unit at a garage sale for next to nothing and I plan to use that one now....My wife really did almost blow a gasket when she found out. For some reason I couldn't stop laughing, The more she'd rant about using the dishwasher to clean my clutches the funny'er I thought it was. Needless to say she puts up with alot.
