Studs cause ice to lube rails?

Was wondering if by running studs if it would throw up enough ice chips to lube rails while traveling on low snow or ice? Seem were getting more ice then snow this year.

humm, i dont know about that. but they do make what i think is called scratchers. they dangle somewhere towards the front of the skid, and sratch the ice to help lube the slides. someone else will have better info on them.
