Is there any way to make the vamx4's steer easier? My 97 with USI's on it steers extremely hard. Is this normal for the Vmax4?

I think that's just the nature of the beast with these things, you can try to loosen the front limiter straps up to take some ski pressure away.

There used to be an "easy steer" front steering arm available. I think it was from Maxximum Performance. Supposed to change the steering ratio and make it easier to turn.

Check all of the pivot points and make sure they've got some oil or grease on them. That will help.

To a certain extent yes but these things are a beast at lower speeds with aggressive carbides or ski's.

FYI for anyone with PSI quads: This style pivot will work, I have found that the needle bearing style ones will not.

rules, I`m thinking these must work by adding lengh to the arm where the rod comming from the base of the steering post connects...if so, i would assume it adds travel to the handle bar movement per distance of ski travel no?
so, you`d have to turn the handle bars more/farther, for the same amount of ski turnage right? (is "turnage" a real word??)..lol

Thanks for the info on these !!

I didn't think turn that bad, may have something binding/bent.

I have another ridge of plastic on my skiis. You can see it in this picture, I have no problems with the steering on my sled. I'm not sure what they are or where they came from, they were on the sled when I got it. Looks like I need a new ski skin too. Small hole in mine.

check and make sure your front swaybar is not binding up,some times they will get dry and rusty and cause hard steering. they are located in the black rubber ribbed covers and attach to the top scissor bolt .just peel them back and oil joint

In addition to adjusting the front limiter strap, I have experimented with a few different skis and found HUGE differences in steering ease, control, tracking, etc.

I think are called easy steer kits? Could be wrong though...

My hard steering turned out to be lubrication issues. Lubricate all of the points recommended in the manual.
