So, I just got spanked by a 98 xc 700. It's a high performance Indy. All stock as far as we know. My buddy bought it last year and it's a rocket. We just went across lake goegebic. I do have an m10 in mine but still. Something doesn't seem right... Does it?

He left ya at WOT??, or throughout the whole race, or what?

THESE POSTS ARE FUNNY, LOOK, YOU WILL NOT WIN A DRAG RACE WITH A VMAX 4 THAT HAS A M-10 IN IT. GO RACE THIS XC OVER BUMPS, NOT ON A LAKE. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Both. Tried it a few ways. He doesn't really pull on me on the top end. But I figured I would sail past him.

Your M10 is killing you.

I don't think its funny. He has an extra 10 in his. I got an m10 in mine. And I got 100 cc's on em and yammie's clutch setup in mine.

Guess I'll try the stock skid just to compare the performance.

I HAVE TO BE HONEST, I DON,T KNOW IF MY CLUTCH SET-UPS HURT A M-10 SLED OR HELP IT. I ALMOST BELIEVE IT HURTS BECAUSE THIS SET-UP IS SO AGGRESIVE, I BELIEVE THE ARCH IN YOUR TRACK CAUSED BY THE M-10 JUST WON,T HOOK UP. I CAN TELL YA THERE IS NOT A XC700 ON THIS EARTH THAT IS GONNA TAKE MY 800. NOWAY. IF YA GET A CHANCE, RACE HIM WITH YOUR STOCK SKID, THAN POST RESULTS. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Ya. I'm gonna go home Sunday, Monday morning the stock skid will be in and I'll let you guys know for sure. If we ever get more snow. It's definitely a traction problem. This thing is all over the place. I'm sure it will be a world of difference with the stock skid. Altho now that his ego is peaked I'll put some money on the next one;)

do you have any studs? if not, does he??

tell ya what...after loosing like that, I`d pull out all the stops...if you lose again, your really never gonna hear the end of it!...if it were me..I`d probley scuff up my clutch sheaves, scuff up my belt, lube the inner workings of my primary (carefully with dry graphite)..
then, or maybe before..I`d use a marker, and make sure the clutches were fully shifting? make sure my track was`nt overly tight, robbing some HP, new plugs...LOL

what belt do you have?

Just thinking that every little bit counts..a slight improvement here and there could total up to be plenty enough to get em!! (especially ditching the M-10 I would imagine)...

If your gonna take the time to put the stock skid back in it might be a chance to true the driveline. Ie make everything run on the straight. There is a tech post here somewhere that shows how to do it. Basicallly your making sure that the suspension is square with the driveshaft, the jackshaft runs perpendicular to the driveshaft and the clutches are 90 degrees from the drive and jack shafts. Theoretically a straight driveline will push easier and rob less hp than a "crooked" driveline. Im with Yammiegod on this one, I drive a '93 750 and no 700 will touch me, even most 800's have no chance. Still waiting to race a thundercat, an f-1000, and an edge 800 which all think they're gonna destroy me. We'll see.

I will take a look at the driveline. I know the m10 hurts the performance from the very first post I put up before I even got the sled. The m10 still Isnt dialed in yet I've been trying one thing at a time. Altho comfortable the sled is real loose and I have tons of track spin. Pretty frustrating trying to diagnose whether it's the snow, the skid, or the power. Never having or driving for that matter a v4 before I have no baseline. So, that's the main reason I'm gonna put the stock in, for a baseline. So I can see what the sleds capable of. Then I'll decide whether or not i'll keep te stocker in or put the m10 back in.

P.s.
Anyone up near hurley Wisconsin? I shoulda asked before I came up here so I can try to get some pointers. Supposed to rain today so we may be leaving today Supposed to stay till tomorrow. If anyones aroun and can meet up, that'd make this whole trip worth while!

Kudos to this xc tho. It's a good friend of mine and he's not rubbing it in my face, it's his buddy who's riding it. He's the butthead but he gives everyone shi! That's what's annoying its not even his sled. My buddy bought it for a grand as a backup and it turned out to be a Total sleeper. It blows away everything that's riding with us. I'm the only 800 grant it but the xc is a 98 700 and my buddies main sled is a 04 xc 700. And he's pissed that his backup kicks his main sleds butt. Anyone have any clue as to y the 98 is so fast. We are thinking somehing is done to it. Or are these sleds known to be fast?

I love my v4. Best looking sled ever made, I will not be happy till it is performing like I know it can. I've crammed a lot of learning in a year so it's a bit frustrating for me but with all of yours guys help I'll get it. I appreciate all the help. Now I'm gonna go outside while everyone is sleeping and smash the electrodes on his spark splugs.

If you're going to race your friend then put in a stock skid. If your going to ride, especially in the Goegebic area keep your M-10. Your back will thank you and you'll aviod back surgery down the road.

Your M-10 should only scrub about 5 mph of your top. Is your track still racheting? If not you're running it to tight. The track should hang an inch when lifted with no weight. Unless you installed anti rachet drives.

I believe I had it set at about 3/4 of and inch that's what my fast book said. Altho after all the fun last night the ratcheting started again so I have to check things out this morning. Untill last night the ratcheting went away when I tightened the track. I heard I could lose up to 15 mph with this skid?? But I'm more concerned with my track spin. I don't believe I'm dialed in. But with the only baseline being in my dreams where I'm wheeling past everyone half throttle with one arm on the handlebars and the other one waving bye bye , I'm really stabbing in the dark. These things I can tell u. I can't pull the skiis up. In no way shape or form will I get traction if I punch it off the line. I can spin the track just about whenever I want to. Only time I get to experience the real power this thing has is basically on icey shoulders or roads with great traction. I do have picks. I know it's a suspension deal. Cause when there seems to be lack of power while on the throttle I get spurts of power when the track hooks up and it nearly throws me off the sled. I do like th m10 it definitely rides great. I have a stock skid in my 600 and I wanna lay down on the floor after a long hard ride. That, I do know.

On another note we dId some jumping last night. Got some good air, got some pics and a kick ass video of about 7 of us flying past the camera set on a wide open straight trail. As soon as I get it from the guy, I'll post it on YouTube. Sounds awesome.

You won't wheelie with the M10 because of the way it couples. If everything is set as recomended by Fast, you may try letting the front limiting staps out a notch to improve traction. I assume your bolts are in #3 holes, try moving them to the #4 holes.

Right hand on the throttle wide open reaching across with your left and waving is a signature move from member Vmax-4 (Curt Wald) He is usually doing 100+ while doing this...... seen it too many times

Well I found out that I am not supposed to run the washers in the secondary with a new belt. I had it backwards. Thought you put em in with a new belt. And out with a worn one. Guess that's one more lesson learned. How much of a factor doe that have. I'm sure it affects the shift out
