I thought you guys might like this. Here is a picture of one sled I got called about. He said it has been instorage the past 3 years. He said it was in great condition. Just thought I would post a picture of it. It is ( which you probably know) a 85 VMax 540.

Rick,
Although I had alot of calls for free sleds, this is not one of them. He wants $550 for it. I really don't know what this is worth but it does seem to be in great shape.

Not a bad deal, I would like to add one of those to my collection someday.

Roadrunner, it´s seems to be in GREAT condition. Take out for a spin if possible and you´ll be sold. That is a good deal for a 550$.

Here is what he said about it.
Sled was running it winter of 02??? Will need going over, carbs, lubes, so on. Now this sled has new rings & is pre-mix. Primer in place of choke, if I remember right?? Primer needs to be mounted, been a while. An assume newer after market track. Located in my parents barn, buried beyond 3-4 other sleds, will need help clearing out, that's why its been so long since moving.

That 540 engine has itīs tricks. If you are taking a serious tought towards it, go it trough fully.

And yes, it seems to be a aftermarket track.

Let us know what you decide.

I did notice in this picture the side panel looks dented in, though. Were these pre-mixed or were they oil injected?

Small dents donīt matter. Those were oil injected. We took the oil injection off from our -84 too. 20 years old oil pumps you know...

Oil pump in that thing is driven by a gear from the crank. You have to change the oil every 800 kmīs to the gear. Pain in the a** ! The engine must be lifted off before the change. We also changed the carbs to our machine. Those original ones were done.

If you want more info about it, PM by brother Samueljackson. He has done the most of the maintance to that thing.

That is a -85. Our SRV has a -85 hood and it has those exact colors. It is restored as a -85 model. That Vmax on this pic is a 84.

Were there different colors in the States than in here?

You can check it for sure by the serial numbers :---> http://www.vintagevmax.com/serial_numbers.htm

That is a 85 for sure. My same sled won the 1989 Grass Drag Championships in 1989 with one of those in it's class and came 3rd in open stock. Biggest grass race in NA at the time.

I know where a 1991 vmax540 is , and it a one owner machine, has been sitting for a longtime in a garage though, would need alot of going over though, but would be a collector as that was the last year made here in Canada.

Doug, the more we talked on phone I realized the more issues they had ! One hood was completely broken from hinges the other a long crack and the one had engine issues. He buys and sells which isn't always bad but, is something to keep in mind since, it's not like buying from someone who knows the sleds history ? Fastmax neat picture !
