Picked up this today, 2600km , 2 owner.
Missing belt shroud, a couple of small tears in the seat, a ding on a strut and a repair on the hood is needed.
Benders more than made up for this.
lm going to leave it stock, well take of the seat, skis and bars put in a safe place. Put a 97 vmax600 seat, powder skis and weld a 3 inch rise into a old set of vmax4 bars.
Now for a weekend of cleaning and fiddling.
Three more long tracks and ive got a set!!

Very cool. It would be neat to have a long track from each year made.
I notice your coils are different from each other. I have this on my 95 with them being different from each other. The one on the right side in your picture is the one I think is different. Do you or anyone here know if it's stock or a replacement.
Sorry if i hyjacked.
Sweet looking sled.

No worries 8BU sharp eye!
Correct the right side coils ( sitting on sled) is a replacement.
The same side on my 1993 went at the beginng of the season, when i ordered a replacement pair thats what i got aswell.
l was told that the only difference was the male female clips on one coil where the other way round for one Vmax4 coil, these where not available anymore so you have to modify a standard era coil.
When i ordered one for my 96 Vmax 600mm i got the same coil aswell.
That explains it. When I got my 97 new and got my 95 used they both had the spare spark plug holders in upside down. When you put plugs in them they would rub on the coils. I tried getting the dealer to replace the ones on my 97 under warranty but he wouldn't as long as they are still working.

.........................so, i had my local 'tame ' shop add a 2 1/2" peice into a old set of bars, you could probably go 3" on a 96. lm going to leave the brake, its not that bad, i wonder if some of the vmaxs bad brakes is track lug height related.
Stock seat, bars and skis have been put away, and the black screen swapped with my 750.lve got a set of rings coming and that will be about it.
Went through the sled, the carbs where a lesson why you should drain fuel and read the label on the additves bottle, airways and pilot jet blocked up and rubber parts shot.
l havent had a chance to give it a proper airing...............it was +10 yesterday?????????????? but from the little testing ive done it rocks.

The track has a lug height of 1.5".
The 600 seat is the same classic plyboard and plastic based affair, no lighter or softer, but higher and narrower than the stock 96 seat.

nice sled......what is the mm 136 you are refering to? i know the track is a 136, but what does the mm stand for? do all of the long tracks sit up this high? i have a 96 with the stock 121 and it looks like the thing has been slammed to the ground compared to yours. good find!

Thanks for the compliments.
The MM is for Mountain Max, i think that only refers to the long track and years 96/97 .
There are alot of different settings to raise and lower the rear arm of the skid on the rear drop brackets , and two to move the front arm of the skid up and down in the tunnel. They appear to be in the same place as they where out the box, none of the telltale signs that anything has been moved ( and lubed either for that matter @#$$).
l have a vmax 600 mountain max long track that sits up aswell. lve never seen a 121" i wouldnt know to compare.
