Well The only 2 flaws with my vmax-4 is a seperation in the seat and it need new Ski Skins. I figer since i have to take the wear bars off to replace the skins i should replace the wear bars with carbide runners. Now heres My questions
Are all the vmax 500/600 and -4 run the same skis???
And what runners are the best to get??
What is everyone else running??

All V-Max4's have the aluminum ski with the insert ski skin. The 500/600 are black steel ski with the insert ski skin.
I bought the purple inserts for my 93 and it cost $80 from the dealer.

The Vmax-4 ski is a different ski than the Vmax500/600 skis, and will take different skins and runners. The insert style skins look the best, but they're not cheap and are getting harder to find. I've run the ski skins that cover the entire bottom of the ski with no problems, they just don't look as clean. Search the snowmobile parts sites, swap meets, ebay, etc. and sometimes you get lucky and find some insert ski skins that are on clearance. I think I got my last ones from Dennis Kirk Scratch and Dent store on ebay dirt cheap.
You should be running at least 8" carbide runners if your track is studded. For steering, the more carbide you have, the better. You should be alright with 6" carbides if you don't have studs. I've run Woody's Executive 8" carbide runners for years, but they're up to about $80/pair now. I picked up some 8" carbides from ebay last year, I think they are Dominators, for $45/pair. Haven't needed to put any on yet because my Woody's aren't worn out yet.

I also use the ski skin what covers the entire ski. My insert red ski skins are underneath and haven´t been ever run on the snow.
I use Totaltek Racing runners on my skis.´I´ve run one tank of gas to this season and those work great. Only problem is that those are only available here in europe.

Look Down in the sponsor forums, PORT YAMAHA are in Wisconsin but are great to deal with. I believe if you order, you should have it in a week or less. If you call ask for Kevin in parts and tell him you are from the Vmax4.com webstie...
