tech tree

Just wondering if any one has ever wrestled the idea of a troubleshooting tech tree? MY sled is doing blah..well try blah and blah..if that isnt it then try blah and blah. Ok none of that worked then your sled has blah wrong with it. I used to do tech support and they really work pretty good. I know people enjoy helping but a tech tree would let people help themselves. Obviously a huge undertaking for whomever was to write it all, but just an idea that crossed my mind.
