in need of chain and gears

i own a 92 vmax4 just broke the drive chain (thankfully didnt shred the chaincase) but my bottom gear chewed up. i ordered a 15x70 just like my old one, but it wont mesh up with the top gear... so i tried an HYVO chain. same thing. is this a 'yamaha-only' chain??

The 92's had a 13 wide chain from the factory, unless the whole setup was changed that could be your problem.

stock chain for '92 is 13 wide 66 link with stock 20-33 gearing. Unless your gearing has been changed then 70 link 15 wide is too long and too wide. That ebay link that Al provided is exactly what comes stock in '92. The Ad also says '93 but that is incorrect.
