you hand warmers are wired in series..if one works, the other should..power supply wise...
sounds like you might be talking about your condensor?

are u guys not sure thats ur regulator for ur lighting allso 2 to with the handle bar warmers if they quit thats in ur stator coil or we,d call it lighting coil.
Defiantly would`nt be the regulator for the lights..I had to replace mine, and it was not as described here..

with out the regulator on a sled u will never keep lights in them thats why they burn them out 2 much voltage u can take that 2 the bank and cash it
so if it,s not then where is the regulator located ?????????????????????
just behind the left air box..it`s held on by one bolt, and has a plug on the bottom of it..
Here`s a pic of the regulator..

thats it AL good deal
ya it's broke in half and the right side works but the left doesn't..
Got my 97 stuck once. Was pushing and cranking on the handle bars and the last half inch of the left grip popped and you could see somthing was broke or moved inside. After that the left grip had no heat while the right still worked. Ended up replacing the left grip.

Ok, Are we sure we are not talking about the white resistor for lowering the voltage to the hand warmers in the low position? Like a chysler ballast resistor ment to reduce the voltage to the points back in the day?

:agree:
Yeah, looks like the resistor to me, too. Several years ago I went riding with my brother and his yahoo friends. These guys rode like animals, the kind of people who give snowmobilers a bad name, and I didn't know what I was getting in to. I couldn't even keep up with the girl in the group! Fortunatly for me, there was a guy who had never been on a snowmobile so I stayed at the back of the pack with him. Anyway, we were really pounding moguls that night and the next morning I did the usual pre-ride check under the hood. My CDI had broken off and was laying on my pipes. My resistor also had a big chip off the end. Got it back to the Yamaha dealer and he said it would be okay, as long as more didn't break off the end. Yours looks pretty terminal. The end of my grip has been cracked like that for years, but the warmers still work so I haven't replaced them yet.

Rob,
My grip broke in the same place but didn't tear open like yours. Had to replace it.

i had a similar incident when i first got my max.CDI broke off one night and was resting against the primary(didnt have belt cover installed).i actually didnt notice until it dropped two cylinders.ground through in tow spots but still managed to get her home on two jugs.when i was able to look at it in daylight,i noticed that it had completely destroyed the primary.
