I am currently building two vintage flat track bikes with a suzuki titan 500 twin, and a yamaha rd400 twin engines.
These two engines have the rods at 180 degree's apart and I am going to set these to 90 degree's.
Both are old school points and I am wanting to go cdi.
I can buy a ready made set up, but at a very high price, coming from Austalia, that is designed for a later model engine, simular to these.
The Yamaha vmax4 ignition is the only one I have located, that will get me started.
It will take some machine work, but I can handle that part.
What I would like to know from somone here is if any other snowmobiles might have a simular ignition to help me find a few sets of these.
Also, can someone tell me what the power curve is on this cdi box, so as to determine how close it would be to what I will actually need.
The plan would be, to use the stator, pickups, and flywheel, just as they are, hook up the cdi box, but use a single coil from each lead for the two cylinders.
Now this should get me started, any questions or additional information needed, please let me know.
Thanks, in advance, Randy
