i recently picked up a 98 srx 700 for a real good price. I am going thru it and cleaning it up, making sure everything is good to go. I saw an ad for a 95 800 http://edmundston.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-ATVs-snowmobiles-snowmobiles-a-vendreYAMAHA-VMAX-4-800-W0QQAdIdZ240692454 . The guy is interested in my srx. I am torn, I love vmax-4's..alot! He might trade me straight up.. what should i do?
wow..I can see your delema...
i really don`t know what I would do...
i think if i already had a vmax 4 or two..I`d probley keep the SRX...but then again..one can never have enough vmax 4`s, and that is the mighty 95, so..
dang man, sory i can`t help..no I`m confused..LOL
tuff deal really...I guess condition, track, studs, ski`s, miles, etc etc would play a role also..I`d have to have both sleds infront of me, and go in deep before i could decided i think..

al...your no help...lol...I think if he'll go for it that 95 might be mine
DO IT!!!! SRX's like the one you bought are a dime a dozen, there aren't many NICE Vmax4's out there to be had.....Especially 800's......JMO.:vmax4:

rx1...I like your opinion. You are right, srx's can be had. 95 800's on the other hand... not so much. Waiting to hear back from the owner.
I'm not exactly sure what the description said, but I think I read something about it having quads too? Then it would be a good trade for sure. I could see hanging on to the SRX if it were a 01 or 02, but there's nothing special about the older ones like that......Not compared to a VMax4 anyway....

well, i never traded. I kept my srx for a few reasons, the first one is that the '95 was a little rough looking under the hood but my main reason was that the srx I had was untested in the snow at the time. I didnt feel right trading a sled that could potentially have major problems. Turns out the srx did have a few issues and was not ready for someone to ride. I have since corrected these things and have put almost 200 trouble free miles on it, and it works good! the first 3 times out however I had to limp back and inspect, nothing major but I still think I made the right decision.
How you likin the SRX now that it runs right compared to the 4's?

Im glad you asked, the srx is quick, has better suspension and burns half the gas. Is it a vmax-4? Not even close! I dont even drive it, I let my friends use it. vmax 4's are like a GTO judge...pure badass! I raced my g/f's stock '93 against it in a few different scenarios, open field with about 10 inches of fresh snow and it was dead even, hard packed road(almost ice) and the srx was quicker. To be fair I weigh 220 or so, my friend 160. Both sleds 0 studs, srx has a better track though. Srx is running stock weights loaded, red secondary at 80 wrap and a bender 9870p helix, not sure of the angle. Vmax is running 89a-10's, heavy rivets, not sure exactly, aaen orange primary spring, secondary is stock spring, stock helix at b-3. Srx seems to not spin as much, therefore gaining the advantage. All in all I like the vmax, just seems tougher. I cant wait to see what my '93 will do against it. I have an 800 cdi, y-pipes and expansion chambers, 24-37 gearing, 42-37 helix at b-3 setting, primary has 89a-10 weights about 56 total grams and a hauck black spring squished into a short cover. SRX is a nice sled though for what I have into it and all my friends really like to drive it, they dont get to touch mine or the g/f's for the most part.
