View Full Version : First ride of the year!
YeeeeHaaaa!!!! I`m almost speachless, but not quite. LOL. anyway, i get er out tonight. man, I totaly forgot how powerfull it was. It was like riding it for the first time all over again. its running GREAT!!! But, I did`nt move 3 inches, before a problem i had last year arose again. aparently my voltage regulator is shot. when I started it up, everything as fine as far as the lights go, and after letting it run for a few, I got on it and went to take off, and as soon as I gave it some gas, the headlight burned out.:banghead: So i hit the dimmer button, and the bright came on and worked for the rest of the night. i had this problem last year too, but after the first couple bulbs burned out, it seamed to clear up and quit doing it, so I had forgotten all about it. But anyway, i had a total blast. I just LOVE this snowmobile!!:D. Another thing I`m very happy about, is my new brakes. I had changed my brakes the other day, becuase they were getting real thin, and these new brakes work GREAT. i can very easily lock up the track without sqeezing the brake lever real hard like i had to do last year. in fact, they work soo good, they almost casued me to roll it. i was doing a good speed run down my road, and went to slow down/stop, and was`nt used to the brake lever bieng so touchy, and acidently locked up the track, So then the rear of the sled went out to the side, and it about scared the crap right out of me. wont be doing that again! anyway, i do have a coule questions, but i think I put them in another post.

We had 3 days of good snow at the end of November. I worked overtime so I could not get the sled out. Then the weekend came and we had 40mm of rain. :( We were supposed to get 10cm of snow last night and nothing. Everyone that's 2 hours around us has 2' of snow!!!!
well thats a bummer RDL. dont worry, I have the feeling your about to get pounded. I`m gonna predict that a storm will start developing early tuesday, and by wendsday night, you`ll have plenty of snow, that will last through the weekend.
Yeah other than that blast the other night, I have`nt had a chance to get back out. but yesturday my neighbor guy did a couple runs up and down our road on his ski doo mxz. he used to fly by me all the time when I would get out on the road with my vintage, but we have`nt met up out there yet with me on my vmax 4. Well have to see if he can still do it.:D, I swear he would just wait for me to get my ole pol out, and as soon as i went out on the road, here he would come, flying past me. its almost like he sat in his garage with his sled ready to go, just waiting for me to get out of my yard and out on the road so he could blow by me. oddley enough after i got my vmax going last year, and did a couple speed runs infront of his house, i never seen him on his sled again, so i thought maybe he sold it, but now I see he did`nt. I might have to send the ole lady out there on the ole vintage just to lure him out LOL

So how much snow did you get from this last storm AL? We got about 3-4" here but I heard you go alot more further south. Theres enough for doing some riding now, still not enough ice for the V-4 yet though :(

Cool you got to show me some picks ot her!!!!!!
Don't think I have ever seen any of your sled.
Master, acording to the our local news channel, we got 8 inches. although when i measured it in the yard, it was close to about ten,but thats probley because we already had a little too start with.
Skinner, that is pretty funny aint it. LOL
Its just weird that it seamed like everytime i got out on my old polaris, he would suddenly come flying out to the road and everytime i went up and down the road, he would too and a couple times he pulled next to me, then hit the gas leaving me in the snow dust of course, but at any rate, it was very obvious he was showing off. But when I got my vmax going, he never came out? I was kinda kidding about sending the ole lady out to lure him, but I mght actually do it, because I know he cant resist showing off. LOL
anyone know anything about the ski doo mxz? how big thier engines are, or how fast they might be? I know its a fairly new one, No older than maybe a 2004 or something. because he did have a differant one that he liked to blast past me on, but I seen it in his front yard for sale, then I seen him on a newer looking one a few weeks later. Just curious, its all just in fun.

Is this an MXZ REV or just a plain MXZ? Anyways, I think MXZ's range anywhere from 340's to 800's. Are they fast? Not compared to your Vmax-4, lol
Hey guys, I just want to add a little to this,
I`m really not one to worry about bieng the fastest, or having a better snowmobile than my friends, infact, before i got my vmax 4, I just had old vintage sleds, which i still do, and still like, but anyway, i have a friend of mine that has a 74 chaparral, and even though i knew that my old sled, and the ole lady`s could easily beat him, i had told kim (the ole lady, i keep refering to) not to pass him, or beat him in a race. just because I did`nt want him thinking he had the slowest sled of the three of us. i know this sounds kinda silly, But I just did`nt want him to be bummed out when we all got together to ride. to this day, he still thinks his old chaparral could keep up with our old sleds, but infact, I would be behind him hitting the gas, and flying up on him, then backing off while in the mean time he was running WOT. kims sled was a little slower than mine, but she could pretty much do the same thing. Anyway, just wanted to tell you guys, that I`m not like you might think by this post, may indicate, that I have to beat everybody i know, and just want to show off, but when it comes to someone who has done it to me time and time again, Heck yeah, i want to blast past him, and give him a little taste of his own medicine. and I suspect the vmax 4, is the beast to do it with. YEEEEHAAAA!:D

humm, i dont know if its a rev or not? how would I be able to tell, I may have to go on a midnight spy mission. LOL,
what if its an 800? would`nt it be pretty fast? I just dont want to end up getting out there, and making the vmax 4 look bad? plus, he probley weighs maybe 175, and I`m closer to 235, so i wonder if the wieght differance could come into play? if so, should i take up smoking crack for a few weeks to get my weight down? JUST KIDDING!! LOL

RDL, this is the only pic I have saved on this computer, not very good.
Terrible ice this day, no traction because it was all tore up from trail studs.
Right now the sled is in the garage, where no photos are allowed to be taken , lol, I'm hoping within a week there will be enough ice for some testing on the pond, and I will make a point to get some better pictures

Al, if its a REV, it will be the new rider forward chassis, which is probably the case if its nearly new.
The MXZ will be quick and will beat you in a short race with limited traction, but on a day where the conditions are ok and the race is a decent distance, you should run away from him, its just a twin.
This is all assuming that its AT LEAST a 600 or 800.

Cool photo MOF thanks buddy! Looks good to me.
Hey what kind of skis do you have on that sled?

Those are stock RX-1 skis. I used to run C&A's but I took them off to run them on the trail sled.

I measured 8" in my driveway when I came home from work Friday morning. The guy on WWJ said that Goodrich got the most snow out of the storm - 8 1/2". I don't have any of my sleds ready to go. The mower deck is still on my tractor. The tractor will start but won't stay running. Oh well, at least it's light fluffy snow to shovel.

Last night was working out on the sled. When I opened the door at 1:30am there was already 2" of new fluffy snow on the ground!!! Hope to get more soon. It's real windy so there's alot of drifting snow outside. Need to get 8" and won't have to worry about wrecking the grass in the yard.

Al, ya need to set yourself up ( that is funny ) First, ya gotta go on recon and find out what the enemy has for guns. Then ya need to go home and make sure the max is set up to defeat thy neighbor. Once ya think yer there, ya put out the bait and sit in the weeds. When ya see em hop on that mustard bucket, the party starts:party:
