Hey guys, just thought I would share a story that happened at work Thursday morning.
I am sure you had that morning you wake up and everything seems to go wrong. Well, that was me Thursday morning before work. They were calling for 8-10 inches of snow Friday and of course I don't have my hood and panels back, I got up late, left my phone at home, forgot my VMax-4 hat (which has been awesome in the cold) and forgot my lunch, got to the store and had all my lunch on the counter and the guy said they didn't have any bags, this made me about blow but I held it in.
Well the guys I work with are like family and we have 1 part time guy who works 2 days a week and then goes to college. He has helped us the last 3 summers too. We were having a great time even though it was a wind chill of around 20 degrees and in an instant it all changed.
About 9:00 am Pat (part time one) had a sheet of OSB and walked past me and the next thing I heard was the sheet falling next te me and I heard him moaning on the next floor, below me. I knew right away this kid was hurt. He has been training the last 4 years at a SEALS camp and he is really a tough one. I looked in the opening and I saw him in the basement with the most blood I have seen for a long time. He wasn't paying attention and backed right off the plywood, we were putting down and fell directly on the right side of his face. I have never saw someones face look the way his did and that was in a matter of 1 minute. I would of never of known who he was, if I didn't see him do this. He broke both eye sockets, broke his nose, fractured sinus cavity, fractured cheek bone and when his teeth are closed together they do not line up at all.
I really feel bad bitching about the "little" things that had me so wound up that morning after this happened. I truely have learned a lesson after this. Pat, is at home but has to go through more CAT scans Monday if the swelling goes down. He may require face surgery and I pray to God, he doesn't have any other problems.
