Well, I converted my 94 v4 into a mtn machine awhile ago, and it paid by being in an avalanche.:cussing: We both suffered. :bottom: I made it out of the hospital, but the machine still is out of commission. (ride my msrx, and the never die phazer currently)
The left pogo sits almost straight up and down, I am thinking of hooking the back bumper to a tree and giving the bottom of the pogo a yank with my truck.

Anyone have any other suggestions?(8 month old son so im broke)

Should I just part it out?(Its not in bad shape, just bent bulk and ski, front nose a little torn, but I dont really need the sled anymore)

I have all the front body work off already.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Erik

Load her up and take it to a body shop to see how much they would charge to pull the frame for you. They have the right equipment to do it and you might make it worse by pulling it with your truck. If it's not really that bad then I bet it wouldn't be too much money, then if you don't really need the sled at least you could sell it outright and not part it out and you'd get more money for it. It'd be worth it to me to at least see what it would cost to get it fixed. My $.02

YUP, thats the thing to do. Max-4 bulkheads bend very easily. There is also a large diameter hole inside of the square front crossmember. You can cut the frame. replace the bent section, or straighten it. You may have to cut the gussets loose and reweld them after its straightened
have a machine shop with a lathe cut a dowel to the OD of the hole, dowel it and weld the pieces back together. That will increase strenght. I have some of that square stock if you need a piece

Thanks guys, I definately had already called body shops, but with x-mas, and every other toy needing gas, I didnt want to put any(zip, zero, nada) $ into this thing, (its already budgeted for when I mess up my mod-srx)

Yet, I understand that ill at least get a little more cash outta her when I get rid of her......but shes like a high priced hooker, she took all my cash, wrecked me and now is good for nothing unless I give her more cash. I kinda want her gone, but shes sooo much fun to ride. That sucks.

I love it, and have spent tons of $ and time on it, but im about to the point that if I cant yank the front out myself, shes done. I dont want her to sit another year. I dont want to part it and I could really use the garage space. Whats it worth? Anyone need a project? Im going skiing in Co from ND, and would be willing to deliver in between.

Anyone attempt a redneck pull-out of the frame on a tss-front end?

I have straightened them - in similar shape to yours or worse. Takes a lot of disassembly, jig work, hydraulics, cables and a solid verticle post to work off of. In addition to "IF" it goes back without crimping or cracking the square tube (must take it slow and steady) then it is very, very likely there are still welds cracked and thinner aluminum areas that are bent or wrinkled. In addition to that, the metal has been fatigued and may be likely to bend again. That big square tube is the nucleus of the chassis and takes the brunt of the punishment of bumps and jumps. $500 to $1000 easy.

In other words, hooking on the bumper and pulling ain't gonna get you anything except a ripped tunnel and ruined bumper.

Suggestion: If you gotta have the VMax4, perhaps find another used one with a lot of miles or no engine and swap parts. Maybe you can find just a chassis.

I agree to look for a new tunnel or chassis, I replaced the one on my Exciter, after calling around i found one for 250 dollars. PLus there is always people parting them out, keep looking.

there is a bulkhead from either a 93 or 94 on ebay for $125, He also has tunnel and front bumper...

I hate to say it, but $125, plus the hours is to much to spend on this sled. I have extended the tunnel, 2" camo, 800 chaincase(jackshaft machined), rering 150 miles ago, rebuilt suspension, basically taken apart and gone through and rpl everything that needed it. For the past 5 years Ive only rode her 100-150 miles a year and store it the rest. Im done working with this one. Dont get me wrong, I love the machine, but im a new Chemist outta school, have very little time and lots of other sleds, atvs, motorcycles, and other junk, and mamabear says this needs to go.
If I try to fix her and fail, ill be in the same boat seemingly. As a scientist who meched through college I dont think its bent bad enough to hurt metallurgical integrity to the point of degraedation when bent back. Here is a pic..

Could I get $1000 out of her in this condition? Is it reasonable to just sell what I can and pitch the rest? Whats the motor worth?

Anyone need any parts?

Thanks for the replys,
Erik
