gas coming out carb vent lines

hello,
i have been riding my 800 for the season,and its been running great..but i went to start it this morning and noticed there was a gas smell..i noticed there was gas coming out of the vent lines on the carbs


i dont want to start a fire..i was wondering is this a problem or is it normal

it runs great i just dont want to cause a problem..

any imput would be great

Under the needle and seats there are rubber o rings that could be leaking check them out had them leak before on all my vmaxes 750 and 800.

Id check the floats, as you prob have gas leaking past the float seats. Id check those also.

Are you talking about the "over flow" lines I assume?
the "vent" lines would route towards the top of the carbs, and i don`t think it`d be posible to get fuel up/in them...

anyway, I`d defiantly pull the carbs and fix this ASAP...it could result in bad news!!

do NOT start it until you pull all four plugs, and slowly pull it over..your motor may be filled with gas...

did you by chance prop the rear of the sled up last time you parked it? did you have a full tank of gas, or close to it???
