air filters??

ok i see on a few sleds on here that there are no air filters just grills. Now on my 92 I have these things that look like steel wool and the in under the windsheld too. now can i take them out and just run grills or is there a replacement filters??? thanks Anthony

i would really like to hear about this too, i have a problem with dirt getting in my airbox!! i hope i never find sand again!

I had the same ones on my 92' and upgraded them to the newer screen style.

Mine has the mesh on top of the air boxes but has a black foam piece in the hood itself. So since it pulls the air through the hood the foam filters it.
