The snow finally came to Oregon and put a nice fresh coat of good snow over what was an icy melting mess. I took my 93 out with a couple friends to Diamond lake for the first real ride. I had never been on a sled when I bought my Vmax4 in November. I took it on one little 15 minute shake down run up in the hills with not enough snow to really do anything. The day didn't start out well. I rode it from the parking lot to the gas station witch is about a half mile and it ran like total crap. It was loading up and it took 3/4 throttle just to keep it at 15 mph! We got to the parking lot and I was already starting to get mad at this thing. I opened to check that all the plug wires were seated and that the choke was not sticking and the hood almost fell off. I never has a problem with the hood but one hinge was missing the two nuts that hold it to the body. After running it back to the parking lot it started running better and I took one nut off the side that was still bolted on and used it to secure the other hinge. The rest of the day I had no problems and my sled ran perfect. Traction was a major issue but that's a fun issue to have. There were very few places flat enough to really let it out but I got it going just over 70 a couple times. It got there very quick after it stopped spinning the track. We headed out to Crater Lake on the trails but never made it all the way. It was starting to snow, the trail was getting pretty bad for first time riders and one of the sleds was not running well so we turned around. After a couple miles down a wrong turn we finally made it back and I had used almost the entire tank of fuel. I was rodding on it quite a bit and there were quite a few very slow start stop sections witch I think helped drink the fuel down. I wish I was still up there but we had to make it a day trip.
