I live in Utah now, originally from Maine where I never had the money to get a sled. Now that I’m all grown up and still a kid I finally got one.
I'm pretty new to riding though, last weekend was the first trip and it was a lot of fun until I got stuck. But all in all I can see me doing this for a very long time.
the sled I got is a 94 Vmax 4 built up about as far as I think it can be with out turbo or NOS. the last owner really put some love into this beast.
since I’m in Utah I'll be riding almost all Mountains and that’s what this sled was set up for with the 151" track and clutch work. I'm still learning so throw some info my way and I hope to see you on the trail.

This is the site what you need. Not too many MountainMax owners, but still a good place to be. Check from the Mountain section of this site. There you see Hontri´s sled, and I´m sure that if you something to ask about clutching , he can hook you up.

Welcome, bigrubba :schild27:
To heck with that "start out small and work your way up", you're starting out with the Vmax-4 as your first sled!   My advice to you would be take it easy until you get used to the handling and power. There are lots of guys here who are willing to help out so don't be afraid to ask questions. Check out the tech page and the members pics pages, too. You won't find a bunch of trash talkers here, just guys who genuinely want to help you.

Welcome!!! I agree with mark, for the love of god, take it real easy for a long time. Seriously, I`m not trying to sound mean, but it can get away from you real fast if you dont watch out. it will gain speed so fast, that before you know it, you`ll be running well over 70 or 80 MPH, and not bieng real fimiliar with how a snowmobile handles in general, could lead to a very dangerous situation. I gotta say, although I`ve been riding sleds for quite a few years, When I took my first ride on my vmax 4, It freaked me out. in fact, it did it again this year, when i got it out for the first time. there not like the old schoolers I was used to, i can tell you that. anyway, I dont mean to start preaching, but please take it easy for awhile. this forum rules. there are so many great members here that are more than willing to help out with any questions you may have. like mark the shark has said, dont be afraid to ask away, god knows i asked a few hundred questions when i first joined, and I`m NOT exagerating one bit. Your not kidding this thing will get away from you if your not careful. 70-80 was like instent, I was just cruising down the tail and before I knew it I was doing 70 then i nailed it and was up to 90 in what seamed like a sleds lenght. but I'm not going to get to nuts on it yet.
