upgraded the Tail Light to LED

Well i was just going to but a LED buld in but I sont think there bright enough so I bought a surface mount LED brake/tail light from boat US and put it in the stock housing. I didnt have to do any mods to the orig snowmobile light even used the stock bolts and taped it into the wiring. I did this for 4 reasons

1. Safer,Brighter and doesnt burn out
2. Looks cool
3. Saves power
4. It was on sale of 10 bucks

Looks like really clean install. Was the leds allready in a plate, or did you mount them in it?

thanks the leds were already in the plate there was a flange around it that i had to cut off the top and bottem to fit it behind the orig cover. Its a clear lens with red leds behind the stock reflector. Ill see if i can get light up pics tomorrow i dont want to smoke out the garage and the sled is on jack stands waiting for new skins and carbides wich im hoping they'll be here tomorrow.

That looks pretty trick! I might have to try something like that. I have a blue dot lens in the center of my taillight lens and tried a halogen bulb in there, but it didn't seem to make any difference. I like your idea better. Can't wait to see it lit up!

where did you get the LED lights? any trailer place or is there a specific type. looks cool. If I end up keeping mine that is a definite install.:super:

any trailer place should have them I got mine from boat US/ west marine. They have 2 types a groment mount and a flush mount wich is the one i got. Then i trimed off the top and bottem of the flange, after that I made the two end mounting holes bigger to fit the factory bolts . theres 2 holes in nere the bottem of the factory housing to feed the wires throught to tap into the factory harness. all the Orig socket for the 1157 bulb is still there and if i wanted to i can return it back to stock. hth and i will def get pics of it lit up today.

here the closest i can find Boat us sisnt have it on there site but it on this one at http://www.optronicsinc.com/trailer.htm the last one on that page is it but the one i have has a clear lens insted of a red lens.
