Might want to think about a 600 v-max and pipe it
Those V-4's are allot to handle
Would recommend a little softer hitter and get some time in the saddle
Would hate to see you hurt youself

hey skinner just saw this thread and thanks for the happy birthday...after thinking about it i might get a 600 triple yamaha or polaris....due to the power and the gas milage

Stick with the Yamaha's young man, you'll be much happier. More ridd'in, less wrench'in. You should be able to find a nice sled in your budget. A guy just had a 96 XTC 600 with very low mileage on totally Yamaha for 900 bucks. A set of pipes and some clutching will wake that little twin up.
If you want the proaction, my little 600 SXR triple is a fun sled. Light and plenty of snot
