Melted visor

I have a 95 800 I'm having trouble with my heated visors getting too hot and melting. I was wondering if anybody has ran into this? I have it hooked up to my handle bar warmer power wire. I'm on my second visor in 3 rides. The last ride at night I could see tiny sparks like static electricity in by visor when I was over 7500rpm and its starting to get expensive. I was thinking maybe voltage regulator but i'm not blowing any lights or any thing else, if someone could help me out that would be great thanks.
 

Not sure what to tell you. I have always tapped into the ground and power off of the wiring harness coming off of the tail light. That way you are not interfering with any of the oem wiring harness.
